One would be hard pressed to find a Fredonia student who does not know Bob Geffert, and harder still one who does not love him.

After reading Ned Campbell's profile on Bob in The Leader last fall, senior Katie Latson was moved to do something for Bob.  Upon discovering that he could not afford the $1200 price tag for a diagnostic test to determine what type of ataxia he has, Bucks 4 Bob was born.

On April 21, 22 and 23, a Bucks 4 Bob table will be set up in the lobby of McEwen. Students are encouraged to make donations and register for the dance-a-thon on April 24.

Partner registration for the dance-a-thon will cost $5, with singles paying $3.  The dance is in the Dod's Hall Multi-Use Room, also known as the Old Pool.  Doors open at 10:30 a.m., and students can register at the door for the same price as pre-registration.

To win the dance-a-thon, students must dance continuously from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  There will also be raffle prizes.

Latson originally intended for the money raised to be given to Bob for his test.  When she asked him what to do with the proceeds, he selflessly told her to donate it all to the National Ataxia Foundation.  Ataxia is a neurological symptom that causes gross loss of coordination in the muscle movements.  The National Ataxia Foundation is "dedicated to improving the lives of persons affected by ataxia through support, education and research," according to the group's website, Ataxia.org.

Bob is a beloved figure on campus.  Help him help others by donating at Bucks 4 Bob or signing up for the dance-a-thon.
