Guarino set to end famed career at Fredonia

Take one look at Nick Guarino and you would immediately label him as just another peer on the campus of SUNY Fredonia. A green Abercrombie jacket, a tee-shirt that reads "328 Temple," a pair of jeans and sneakers. His appearance can be compared to just about any student that you see on campus daily.

    The world of Division III recruiting for NCAA-recognized teams is far less sexy than the lavish world of Division I. There are no suitcases full of cash and no beautiful people waiting for recruits during campus visits. Division III recruiting is about building relationships and a family-like atmosphere.

New York Knicks basketball is (finally) back

Commentary The New York Knicks may have been swept in the first round of the 2011 NBA playoffs but for a team that had not made the playoffs since 2002, just making the postseason should be viewed as a success. Although just making the playoffs should be viewed as an accomplishment for any team, getting swept in the first round can leave a bad taste in the mouths of players, coaches and fans.

Blue Devils split season-ending doubleheader, look toward playoffs

Sports Brief      Saturday, while the majority of the SUNY Fredonia student body was busy partaking in the annual shenanigans of Fred Fest, the Fredonia State softball team was busy locking up the No. 3 seed in the SUNYAC postseason tournament by splitting a doubleheader with the Buffalo State Bengals.

Spring sports season comes to a close

The coming of May brings two things to college campuses: the end of another school year and the end of the college sports season. Two of Fredonia State's sports teams have ended their spring season while another still has a postseason engagement to attend to.
